MMPC Reacts To President Obama's Comments About Cambridge PD
Posted On: Jul 23, 2009 (00:38:10)

In response to President Obama's comment that Cambridge PD acted  "stupidly" during the arrest of Professor Gates the MMPC issued the following statement:

We were shocked to hear the President weigh in last night on this issue during a nationally televised prime time news conference on an issue that is so important such as health care.

We are disappointed with the President's comment towards the Cambridge Police Department especially after he admitted to not having all the facts and a biased opinion.  Cambridge Police Officers are professionals and they do an outstanding job serving the citizens of Cambridge every day.

Our website has been inundated with e-mails condemning the President's comments and stating support for Sgt. Crowley and the Cambridge Police Department.

Right now our thoughts are with Sgt. Crowley and his family during this difficult time.
